I have a new laptop with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Norton Internet Security Online.

Every time I power off my laptop, I get a message telling me there are two updates to install.

I never power off but can not get rid of this very annoying message.

What should I do?

"Every time I power off my laptop" "I never power off".

Which one? I would let it update and power off itself. Mine does this every night.
yes, I get this often and I let it update and shut down in it's own time

I get the same every time I close down when an update's due - just let it do it, it'll shut itself down when it finishes.
Having said that, when I check my update history, all the updates have "failed". What's going on there??
I think what Jamie was trying to get across was he gets the configuring updates, do not power of your machine, which he lets finish (i.e. doesn't power off the machine) but they never go away.

Try running the windows fixit to reset your windows updates...
