is it true that cd-rw discs lose data and are recommended onlyfor temporary storage?

all media that is rewritable can lose data after a length of time (this is like 30 years or so...). leaving it in the sun will vastly speed up the process.

CR-R discs are also not perfectly reliable. in fact, nothing is perfectly reliable.
I was just about to say, even CDR's aren't completely permanent and lose data after several decades.
If you're storing something for less than a decade or two then this is temporary enough for a CDRW to cope with.
