On the 'How observant thread' you said about fire fox, I have always had IE and suffered from freezing web pages, I have just downloaded it, and it is BRILLIANT, No freezing on any web sites and very quick opening pages.

I know each to their own and all that, but I thought Google Chrome was the bees-knees til I discovered FF.
So much better, wouldn't go back to any other one now.

It's brilliant, I thought it was the computer and was thinking of getting a more up to date model, It even shows me some spelling mistake on Ab, which is great for me. Some websites I love but IE would stop working but now I can surf all day.

some people had trouble on AB with Firefox a while back (seems to have been sorted since then). Others speak highly of Chrome. Nobody speaks highly of IE but lots of people use it. You can have as many as you like, that's the good thing.

I used to use chrome but I can't use facebook on it. I think I clicked something wrong when setting up the laptop.

I had AOL last year and switched to sky, It never came with a CD, and I just presumed I had to use IE as it was the only thing installed on my pc, Never new I could download a browser.

I love my Foxy Fox.
What annoys me is the way IE9 is getting pushed on me with the updates.
If I wanted it I would get it.
My son deleted FF from out spare PC.Still haven't forgiven him.

To play devil's advocate slightly here, FireFox is generally fine for sites like this where there is minimal user interaction though, as has been pointed out, a FireFox update a while back made even AB unusable on it for a while.

However, for more app-centric sites, which some people call web applications, it is just awful! Its almost weekly updates have made supporting it almost more trouble than its worth. Specifically, every update seems to break something new in its JavaScript engine, and I'm seriously considering removing it from the list of browsers for which I provide free support to clients.

So what is the answer? I'm on IE9 and AB is at times pointless - I have refreshed and shut down AB about 100 times just since yesterday lunchtime (this has been going on like this for months) but at work (IE6) I have no problem. I have said on here before - why have a site that doesn't work properly on one of the most used (even if rubbish) browsers, why can't AB sort itself?

Prudie, IE used to boot me off all the time, some days I couldn't get on at all.

It's bad josaphine - at times when it's frozen everything up (and it's only AB) I've had to go into task manager and end IE process and it's always showing as 50% CPU usage even when it's only AB open.

So can one download Chrome and leave IE9 and switch between the two?

One certainly can.

Same here prudie, and when you try to exit, it wont let you, so you keep clicking the cross until IE shuts down very slowly, and then you get a microsoft encountered a problem send or don't send, usually 8 of them. saying that FF just booted me out said I timed out what ever that means.
