Increase in Spam mail
10 Answers
About 3 weeks ago something happened to my e-mail and suddenly I'm getting masses of daily spam when it wasnt really a big deal before.
Any tips on how to deal with it and any ideas why the increase (after 8 years or so with the same address).

You can using filters but you'll be swimming against the tide. If the spam is in your inbox and you can cope with it then it'll just continue. If it's a problem you may be better changing your email address
Unless you request to delete at server all you are doing is putting the spam into a different folder. As the spam is coming from different addresses you may find a filter is not enough to trap them all. When it comes to a crunch like Factor 30 says the best thing is toi change your e-mail address.
Many ISPs give you a choice to set up a number of e-mail addresses. If so keep one for family and personal info and use the others for purchases, interests etc.

My ISP (virgin media) enable you to set "rules" on how you want them to deal with spam - send it on to you marked "spam" for you to deal with, hold it all on the server in the "spam" folder or other combinations. Anything in the spam folder is automatically deleted from the server after 30 days so I don't even have to see it, although I do log on to check that something has not gone into spam accidentally - where I can also "teach" the server that that particular email is not spam and should be ignored. Presumably Talk Talk have a similar situation.
