Someone threatened to hack me..

I received a message on a game i play saying "i have you ip adress, so im going to hack your computer and get your password" or something along those lines. Is this actually possible, and could he get my password?

Knowing someone's IP address doesn't give access to their computer. For example, I've no hesitation whatsoever in publishing my current IP address here. (It's 80.168.164.17). That information is completely useless to any potential hacker unless I disable my firewall.

Here you don't mention you play games online or on a PC. Yes it may be possible. But simply you have to do this :
First always keep your firewall enable
Run anti-virus software, so no virus can attack on your PC.
And always take care while clicking on any advertisement or downloading anything from the internet.
So no one able to hack your PC.
