Scanning a picture
8 Answers
As is often the case, browsing the internet for an answer to a question is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have a HPDeskjet 1050 Printer-Scanner-Copier. I can print and I can copy, but how do I scan a picture from the HPDeskjet to get it on to my computer screen? Grateful for help with this.

Something came up on here from another user about scanning and I was able to answer as the same thing happened with me.
For some reason you might not be able to scan using the commands on the printer, it won't pick up the computer it's connected to. But if you go to the HP menu on your computer and find the scan command it should work.

Problem is ummmm, it doesn't have a scan button as such. There's a button to copy/print in colour, another to copy/print in black and white, and a third button with a red cross on it to stop the printing process. I'm thinking there might be a program on my computer that would operate a scan and save but I haven't discovered it yet.
Perhaps I haven’t looked in the right places, but I couldn’t find 'scan setup', or the ‘HP menu’. Going to Start - All Programs - didn’t show 'Windows fax and scan'. I have however found a way round it. Micrografx Picture Publisher 6 which I have on my PC solves the problem. Opening it and clicking on File then shows Acquire. Clicking Acquire gives various options, colour, scan size, resolution - and it works!
