Cat with Struvit problem

My cat has Struvit crystals (I hope that's the correct translation) in his urin since three years, now.
Two years ago, after trying lots of diets and constantly fighting iinfections, we decided we wanted the surgery.

After the surgery I got to know a new, much more lively cat with a whole new joy for life. It was really worth it.

But the crystalisation of the urin into Struvit is still a problem. Last year he had to get surgery again to remove a rather large calcus from his bladder.
I considered that a major setback and explored new diets for him. He's fed two kinds of urinary diet.
There are pills I could feed him (Fluvit) but he dislikes them so much he forces himself to throw up (crazy but true) when I tricked him into eating them.

I am a very patient pet owner, but I can't go through the trouble of feeding him pills every day, because it's too stressful for both of us, so I have to rely on the diet only.

My question: Feeding diet and pills aside - Is there another method to reduce the PH-value of his urin?
Maybe something I can dissolve in his water or maybe apply on his fur? Maybe a monthly injection directly in his bladder, to dissolve the crystals, if that is even possible?

We've tried citric acid, but he dislikes the taste.
Though I trust my vet, I tend to think there might be more knowledge to gain about this problem outside of Germany. Any links suggestion? (For good links are hard to find)

Is your cat on a completely DRY diet (not tinned)? as this can result in lots of urinary problems!

hi there, I have 2 cats, one of which has had a bad urine infection and has had to have 2 operations. The end of his 'winky' keeps healing overand he has problems urinating. A friend of mine who is a vet said it can be caused by diet. we have always fed them dry food with the occassional pouch of wet food. apparantly some dry foods have a very high PH level which can cause these problems. I know you said form diet aside - but it might be worth trying x

My cat also has this problem, A friend who owns an animal sanctuary told me that about one quater teaspoon of cranberry juice works as well on cats as a glass a day does on humans, but then we had problems getting him to take the stuff. Then we discovered "AUTARKY" cat food it's got cranberry in it. He loves it, at the moment he can't get enough of it, (his new nickname is "the autarky kid") But it really does work he has had no problems since. once when the only shop in our town that stocks it ran out, we had to feed him an alternative but after a couple of days the symptoms started up again. Now I buy in bulk.
