IPhone won't charge

My husband's IPhone won't charge an now has almost no battery left, we've tried another charger but this wouldn't work either. He's got a new phone but is desperate to retrieve his contacts from the IPhone, does anyone know how he can charge it enough please to do this. Would be so grateful for any help.

If you've got another battery, try that.
If it charges - your current battery is goosed.
If it doesn't charge - it's prob a connection fault.
If you haven't got another battery - I'm sorry but I can't help :(

Giz, I don't think you can change the battery in an iPhone?

If it's a 3 or 4 there seem to be plenty of battery suppliers and "how to" videos online.

Have you tried connecting it to a laptop or pc?

That might save the contacts

Oh well - I just assumed it was like any other phone.
So what happens if/when the battery gets goosed, what then??
Surely you must be able to change it somehow, granted it might not be as straight forward as a normal phone.

Aww thanks so much folks, dont think hes saved contacts through itunes, dont think it will turn on even , will have a look at the videos and mention connecting to a laptop. Really grateful for your prompt help, you're all stars!

my iphone did this and i turned it off for 10 seconds then turned it back on and it charged ok.

Giz, the battery is built in, you can't remove it

So are you telling me that if the battery gets goosed, your phone is goosed as well ??
Surely the battery is replaceable, even if you've got to take it to a shop to get it done !!
I know this isn't an option in this case and I'm drifting off topic, but surely ........ ????

top left twiddle the silver button up & down x5. Top right press Off silver button & front bottom dimple together till the Apple logo shows. Plug in & charge.

n.b. repeat above till you get the Apple logo.
