When I rightclick on a highlighted text, one of the options is to search for that term on apast visited site - this would be handy. But, it seems impossible to set google search as the default for this search. Every other option has a set as default option, except google.

Is this a glitch in Chrome or am I doing something wrong (most likely).

The only way to google for that term is to copy it and open a new chrome page and paste it. This takes at least 5 seconds of my valuable time. lol

Mine works on a Google search, wildwood.

On the right hand side of the Chrome webpage there is three blue horizontal lines. If I hover my mouse over them it says [Customize and control Google Chrome]. Click on it and it brings up a sub-menu. Scroll down to SETTINGS and click on it. Scroll down that page and you should come across a piece of text that should say

Set which search engine is used when searching from the omnibox.

Underneath is the pull-down menu that has Google, Wikipedia and other search engine types.

Does this help?

Thanks Judge, but that is precisely my problem. The Google one doesn't have a 'set as default' option. all the other ones do.
Google does not need to be in the search engine list. The Chrome address bar is the Google search bar.
