Screen goes blank

Oh dear I have another problem with my Windows 7 laptop. I am merrily typing away, usually in an email - I am with BT. Sometimes it happens in OpenOffice. Then the screen suddenly goes black. Or white. Can't do anything. Then my pages comes back, all OK. What is happening? Help please !

it might be a problem with the screen or the screen cable. Gently hold a corner of the lid and give it a little "wiggle" - does it happen then?

I thought it might be a bug so I downloaded free Malwarebytes and it hasn't happened since. If it does, I will try it, thanks for your answer.
