I have turned on my computer to find the screen filled with information supposedly from PCeU, the Police Central E-Crime Unit. It says to unlock my computer I will have to pay £100 to either Ukash or Paysafe. There do not appear to be any contact detail to ring and talk to anyone, and I think it may be some type of a scam. I most certainly haven't downloaded anything dodgy, or any pawn etc, and use McAfee anti virus, firewall etc to protect my computer. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

Glad you've not been downloading chess pieces.

More of a hoax than a scam I think, but you need to sort it out as chuck says
My Dad got one like that the other day saying he was going to prison. Lol.
You're not alone. See below:

Thank you methyl for the information - I gather that thhis is something you feel strongly about. I spent some time yesterday cleaning up my computer and found the website link that Chuck provided was clear and easy to follow for someone like me who is not technically minded. Let's hope that we have seen the last of that virus here. I have the malspyware on my desktop now so hopefully my computer is safe. I have MacAfee as my anti virus and firewall etc and wonder why the virus was able to get to my pc?

Oh, and the internet "pawn" was courtesy of the predictive texting on my phone!
