Dr beats headphones

Can I have some advise. Dr beats or skull candy. what are the best ones to have without paying too much. Happy to pay 100. But not a ridiculous price. What are the difference for the difference names ones like monster and pro etc. it's just for my daughter to have some nice headphones. Thanks.

I'd go for beats out the two, although I'd be more likely to look for sennheiser if I was looking to buy.

BTW.... what type of headphones does she want? if she's an audiophile then open backed are the ones to go for. closed backed next (especially for noisy environment) and at the bottom of the list is ear bud types.

I'd say it was a trend thing, more than a quality thing.

Skull Candy and Dr Dre iBeats (is that right) both seem really good. You can't ask her which are more "in" among her circle, can you?

Jayne has a point.... if your daughters age has the word "teen" in it then she'll want the cool ones, not the best sounding ones.

I'm not qualified to comment on cool.

Hi, chuck. Yeah, I have some Sennheiser buds. They're really good. But not cool, except among audiophiles.

I'd say ... judging by what the kids here wear ... iBeats are hip and trendy ... Skull Candy are grungy and edgy, like skater gear.

What image would suit your daughter?

My son used to have Skull Candy, he now has some more expensive Beats. The Beats are great. He has the previous version of these and they cost him about £160, so this is a bargain but slightly more than you wanted to pay :

I've had a couple of different pairs of in ears: the Tours (a gift) and the Beats (came with a smart phone). They're 'ok' but overpriced imo for the sound they produce: you're paying a premium for the name/trendy image.

I'd go for Sennheiser: I'm considering a pair of PX200 IIs.

One way for neenee to tell is look to see what her friends are wearing, what ever brand they are wearing the daughter will want the same brand (but a better model)

Or just get Sennheiser and tell her to be cool by being different and better.

At 13, she's going to be waaaaay more headphone trend conscious than we are.

Ahem... I don't usually venture in this here technology section but for what it's worth... I have quite small ears and found even the small beats one didn't feel very comfortable, also they go quite deep in the ear and I found they made my ear itch.

I will now leave the technology section as quietly as I came in!

If you decided to go for any of the DR. Dre/Monster headphones, beware fakes: they are rife on all models.

Neenee, maybe my last post was not clear - the headphones in my link are £118. If you are "happy" to pay £100 then this is a pair that fits the brand image, is good quality and comfortable. At that price you can also get red or black as well as the white I link to. There are other colour options, e.g. pink, but they are all £150+ for the same basic headphone.

Loads of info for me thankyou. Much appreciated. I would buy them from Hmv or somewhere similar rather than online to avoid fakes esp when paying these prices. Sign of getting old for me I think as I now don't know what's trendy and cool anymore! Lol.

The ones I link to are not fakes. The only time you need to be careful on Amazon is when you buy from third parties there - not from Amazon themselves.
