I wonder if fellow ABers share my irritation in trying to read text, such as News, on one half of the TV screen while active TV programmes show on the other half. Frankly it drives me up the wall and I cover the half screen I don’t wish to see. One alternative is Sky text - a bit peculiar in some ways but better for reading the news. How do you cope with reading text on TV?
I use BBC "text" (what was teletext) to look at news and sports news, but it is annoying as it only takes up half the screen and you finish up with irritating "action" going on on the left hand side while trying to read what is on the right.
I wish they would either give you an option to stretch the text to be full screen, or to give you an option to have a plain background.
I find it very annoying on BBC news channel and also on sky news that the headlines are running across the bottom of the screen continually and I find that I keep on reading them - drives me crazy!
The divided screen is the worst thing that’s happened to TV. Not sure where Quizzywig finds Sky news with headlines running across the bottom of the screen. I live in the South East and find Sky Text (Challenge TV) by keying in 206. There may be a longish wait but two options appear - press the red button, scroll down to News Desk and click OK. Despite a few peculiarities I prefer reading the news there.
