Christmas Present Help! UK Vinyl Players?

Hello,

My boyfriend is really into vinyl records and has bought loads without actually owning a vinyl player?!

I'm a bit of a technophobe, but finally wanted to buy him a player for Christmas so that he can listen to the stuff he's bought.

I'm looking for something that he can predominantly just listen to his vinyls with but that would also give him the option to convert his vinyls to mp3 if he wanted to.

I've heard that 'ion' players are very good but wanted to get some extra opinions on the subject.

Can anyone help?!

I only saw one of those the other day. Plugs into the USB socket on your PC and will play all usual speeds (33, 45rpm)

woops, forgot this bit; As its run via your PC and PC speakers then I guess you could 'rip' the audio to MP3 with the relevent software (audigy etc)

In the Daily Mirror newspaper there are ads foor these for around 200 and they play radio cassette and cd too. You can probably find them cheaper.
