is it true that if you post a home-made film on Youtube and it gets lots of hits (like the one of Fenton the dog chasing deer in Richmond Park), Youtube will pay you? If so, how many hits do you need to qualify for payment and how much do Youtube pay?

Question Author
the title of my question should of course read Youtube not Facebook.
Depends on a few factors
When I did it (music tuts. web and graphics tuts.) was $2 US per 1000 clicks
you need to get a Youtube partnership, hundreds of thousands of views to get the clicks to sponsors and also number of subscribers.

Taking into account the number of youtube channels very very few people make money to the degree its a noticeable amount each month

I was doing it for fun as it was already my job and I just happened to get a lot of subscribers, it wasnt to make money as such, more to advertise my services
Forgot to say that the vids you have on your channel must also have a certain amount of views before YT will even look at you as a partner.
We arent talking a few hundred here.

Very few people can give up their day job for YT money

This guy claims to have earnt a million $US
2 billion views & 6mill subs

These sort or channels are the ones making most money.

The "Charlie bit my finger" channels are like the dog chasing deer are pure luck and few and far between
