I could use some help. My laptop is giving me grief. Pages keep freezing and Recover Webpage keeps popping up. I'm on the verge of tossing this thing at the wall! Any advice? Or should I simply let it bounce off the walls?

Try turning all off, unplug modem/router from wall telephone socket, let it all discharge for a while, then turn it all on and let it all boot up once more. Not sure if there is a technical justification but the complete turn off and back on again might help. Do you have just the one laptop or is there something else you can check the Internet link with ?

Right. It's a Dell Inspiron 1545, I use Windows 7 and this carry on has been happening for a while. I know absolutely nothing about computers but I can generally get all the hardware bits to join up and work - heck I can eve blow them up (done that twice to a computer, once to an mp3 player, a hairdryer and I've set a microwave on fire - I think I was a demolition expert in a previous life!) I just don't know what's going on with this thing. I suppose I'll have to take it to a repair shop....
Well I'm guessing that you're using Internet Explorer, possibly version 8. Go to Help > About at the top of the page to check.
Check that it's up to date by following the instructions here:

(If it's not, update it; that may well fix the error).
The majority of AB's 'regulars' (and, as far as I know, all of those who are regarded as 'techies') wouldn't touch Internet Explorer with an infinitely long bargepole. Most of us use Firefox:

I did that bit about the updates all seems ok on that front.
Though things went a bit hairy there for a moment, cursor jumping all over the place, and the on screen page breaking up and showing more than one page at a time ...........I'm totally baffled!
But thanks for the advice, I will follow it up in the morning and if it still plays up, and if I refrain from bouncing it off the walls I'll take it back to the shop where I bought it and let rip!

Browser help about? I am roadkill on the information superhighway, I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to be looking for. I followed the suggestion given by Chris and found that all updates for IE were there and all were successful so if there's anything I've missed (chances are I have) Like I said, I'll go back to where we bought it and see what they say - I could just blow it up like my other one!

OK I never drink tea and rarely drink coffee, no liquid has ever come in contact with this machine - I am as houseproud of my laptop as I am about my house so I do keep it "dusted" and "brush" out the keyboard, believe when I say this thing is pristine! I'm going to go off and play with this and see if I can find the pages you are describing
