Gas Meter - Imperial Or Metric

How to I know which my gas meter is. My Gas supplier say if it is Imperial to read the first 4 numbers and if it is Metric I need to read the first 5. This is from the info on their website.

How do I know whether mine in Imperial or Metric?

If it's Imperial it'll have Cu. Ft. on it; if metric, it'll have Cubic metres, m3, or cu.m.
