Outlook

I foolishly dowloaded Outlook when asked to do so in my Hotmail account thinking I was going to get a demo of it first.

I hate it with a passion.

Can any 'techie' help me get back to good old standard email lists without them being linked to Facebook, Twitter etc??

I doubt that you've downloaded anything
I suspect that what you have actually done is upgraded from using Hotmail to using Outlook.com. If you click the options icon (a little cog wheel at the top right) you can choose Switch back to HotMail.

Sort of..
Outlook.com is not the same as Outlook. It's a redesign and re-branding of the Hotmail web service. At the moment you can switch back and forth between the two, but eventually, you will have to switch to Outlook.com (or change to a different service altogether).
