Ipod Keeps Cutting Out!?

For the past couple of days my iPod - a third generation [4GB], which I bought in 2005 - has been cutting out for no apparent reason; and now it won't stop doing it - even if I charge it.

Why is this? Can you help?

By the way, even though I bought in 2005, it hasn't been used that much.

Reboot it...hold middle bit and menu down at the same time for 30 secs...

Try quickly switching the lock button on and off a few times.
Check that your ipod software is up to date by synching with iTunes
Try resetting the ipod to factory settings

Remember if you resynch
it with I tunes you will lose existing library and install only what is in I tune library...
