You'll need a decent connection/pc/graphics-card to get the best out of it, but WOW.

I can see myself waving out my office window!! Not quite, but it is very impressive, yes.

it seems to be overloaded at the moment. Keep trying it's worth the wait, Netti.
It allows you, from a point in space, to zoom in on anywhere on earth.

sorry...this seems to have been oversubscribed very quickly.
Absolutely amazing - thanks for the link.

Can't help but say typical America though.....Africa doesn't seem to be populated or exist......
Chillum next time whisper it so the masses do not rush there and miss me out.  STill cannot get it.

Google 'nasa worldwind' and download the programme there (about 150mb i think)

It uses Nasa's satellites and is similar if not better than google's version. Again, you can only access North America and of course its not in real-time but you can have hours of fun looking for things like the golden gate bridge, the hollywood sign etc

Try it!!

:)

oops meant to say that you can only access North America at street level ie. make out cars and buildings.

I have to admit, I'm blown away by this thing. It's just effing amazing. It's not just N.A. oligopoly, it's the whole world. Admittedly some areas are far more detailed than others but it'll only get better. Some of the ones that you don't expect to be great, Moscow, Bejing etc.. are fantastic. I'm sure in the not-to-distant future we'll have a "weather layer" in which images from weather satellites can be fairly regularly updated.
I havent been on worldwind for a while as im back home and connection's slow so they may well have updated the images from various countries. Have you tried changing the angle of what youre viewing?! Thats pretty cool.....
