I've just bought & installed Sims 2 on my PC but it won't play as I get a message saying something like 'no Direct X 9.0 compatible adaptors on this system'. How can I get the game to play?

sounds to me that your graphics drivers are out of date, or DirectX 9 is not installed. Dx9 is on one of the cds, and you can uppdate ur driver from the manufactures website.
