Page Error

My page just went a strange purple colour and said something like 'this page is dead'.... and I'm sure it said 'Jim'??
It then had a 'relaod' button, which I clicked on, but it just came up with the same screen. I had 5 other windows open, and they all changed to the same purple screen with the message about Jim and a little box face.
I couldn't even restart the computer, I had to hold down the power button to shut it down and restart it.
Any ideas as to what this is? It took ages to start back up??

Do you still have the problem now you have restarted your system?

Yes, it looks exactly like the one posted in the link. So it's not a virus then or anything to worry about? The problem seems to have gone and it's back to working ok. I was just worried because when I started my computer back up it was really, really slow and said something like configuration/configuring?
Good to see that the 'problem' has 'gone away'.
If you do a google search for 'JIM Google Chrome' you find quite a few others have had this experience over the past few years.
The 'Configuring' 'message on restart is most likely Microsoft Windows updates that have been doing the rounds in the past few days.

Well, just for clarity, seems the Google Chrome team adopted the phrase based on the famous Dr McCoy line from Star Trek of "He's Dead Jim" to indicate a Chrome error condition. Amuses some but can irritate others!
Its a good job Microsoft didn't adopt the same philosophy, else there could be lots of 'Jims' appearing from time to time!
