Windows Picture Viewer

I get a message on trying to open a document containing a foto,saying I may need to get the latest Windows Picture Viewer.I did check online and it said to go to- Start,then- all programmes to- Windows update and it should say there if there is an update for it...but there isn`t...so what can I do?
This is different to the post I have put "Sony Raw Driver"

If all else fails you could install a 3rd party picture viewer to solve the issue.

Not got a great experience of the market but for what it's worth, I downloaded Ifanview yesterday in order to shrink my woman's photographs to smaller sized files. It might serve for yourself too.

It did occur to me that although one can view pictures with it, I think it is intended more as an editor. Try a web search for "image viewer recommendations".
