Ebay Remembering My Username.

Every time I go to the eBay site, I find that my username is already filled in. Problem is, when I initially typed it I made a typing error, so I need to delete the wrongly-spelled name and type the correct one in.

Is there any way I can "clear" the name that eBay is storing, so that I can replace it with the correct one?

Thanks for any replies, peeps. x

Internet Explorer.
on mine there is a tick-box saying "do you want us to remember this log-in", under the check-in box. If you have that, uncheck it then redo it when you've put in the correct username
I'm on IE9
There will be something in your IE settings that allows/stops autofilling.
There may also be something on your ebay profile that says something like 'remember me on this site'- if so, you need to uncheck that option
Sorry boxtops- you weren't there when I started typing, and then I had to sign back in to AB
no prob, at least we have the same suggestion :-)
It's easier to just sign out (Option next to your username on ebay) and then sign back in with the correct username.

Thanks Boxy, just had a look at that but all I have is a box asking if I want to stay signed in.

I've tried unchecking that box, but the mis-spelled username still comes up, even though I've closed down and reopened the site. :o(

Chrisgel, I do always sign out, but when I go to sign in again, as soon as I click on the username box, the wrongly spelled name comes up - even before I've typed anything. It's like it's pre-set, if you know what I mean.

Yes but you should be able to erase or type over it with the correct name????
Question Author
Sorry, correction to the above - as soon as I type the first letter of my username, the name I'm trying to delete comes up.
Question Author
Yes, I can retype it with the correct one, but I am wondering if I can clear the memory, to stop the wrong being automatically filled in. Sorry, I don't know if that makes sense but I can't think of how else to say it.

It's not a massive problem - it's just a minor irritation but I'd like to know if I can alter the name that is stored so the right spelling comes up.
Sorry to labour the point but if you can type the correct name into the box then it should ask you then if you want ie to remember your details. If you say yes then the next time you go onto ebay it should have the correct username already. If you type no then you should have to log in when you return to ebay.
Question Author
That's the strange thing, Chrisgel - it doesn't. It asks if I've forgot my username or password, then it asks if I want to stay signed in - but that's all.

Factor, thanks for your answer above - I accidentally missed you before.

I've sorted it, thanks peeps.

Went to Tools, Options...(can't remember the rest) at some point I found a box that said "Remember username and passwords on forms" or something like that.

I unticked it and now the problem has gone. I might go back and tick it, now I've corrected the spelling.
I would if I were you mrs c, tick the box now you have corrected it. I'll save having to keep feeling it in.

Thanks Tony. Just done it.
