free text messages from pc

i have heard that u can send free text messages to a u.k mobile for free using ur p.c, this sounds like a great idea but there must be a catch, i have been onto some websites and some say u have to pay so much per month while others say its 'totally free, nothin to pay'. I would like to be able to send free tx messages to mobiles but i am afraid that there will be some kind of hidden charge. has anyone ever used these comapies and can u tell me if there is a 'secret' catch or are some of them 'free'?

I use one where you can send 5 free a day. You can also have a contacts book so it makes it a lot easier.

It's completely free, and it seems to work alright. But your messages don't last that long. It also sticks a little advert message on the end. Still, I use it when i've run out of battery etc.

I think you can upgrade to VIP which costs, but obviously has advantages too.

The "catch" with the free one that I use is that they often tag an advertonto the end or the beginning of yourtext message.
