Working tax credits
Mairead: Up to £20,560 a year for her six children
Lisa Willis: Up to £17,870 for her five children
Estimated earnings from their cleaning jobs: £14,000
Yearly total: £38,430
Housing benefit
Philpott: £150 a week
Yearly total: £7,800
ESTIMATED GRAND TOTAL: £68,000
This is the approximate take-home pay of someone earning £100,000

hc....blimey.......thanks for your efforts.....puts a new meaning on the word "benefits".

Nothing like that in the post WW2 years....so quite an explosion of "benefits" over half a century.

indeed, i remarked before that i was in the local CAB once, and on the wall is a chart detailing all the various benefits, it was half the length of the wall, amazed, yes i was.

Id believe that lots of benefits on the chart suggests an attempt to target fairly, because simple schemes attract criticism that some are getting when they have no need and others are missing out when they have needs. The OP shows that giving out because there is a kid hasn't allowed the natural hardships from irresponsible breeding to apply the natural brake on their activities. Maybe after 2 there should be a stop to further child benefit, and an offer of a free sterilization on the NHS instead ?

As I have told the younger generations in the family.
Don't make the same errors I have made in life , such as ...
Gaining an education
Working all my life since leaving Uni
Ending up paying tax at 42% and £2,000 a year poll tax and 25 years paying a mortgage to buy a property.

Why bother ....when I'm in a nursing home and the state has sold my house to pay for it , I will be sat next to someone like Philpott who has had a life of leisure and paid for by the state.

SirA I totally agree with you. I've worked for what I have. No benefits only child benefit in the 70's (about £3.50 pw) which I saved up to buy shoes or clothes for the little one. Had a job from leaving school, not like some of them today who have never worked at all.
