Phone Using Credit When Not Getting Used

OH has got himself a new Blackberry and no instructions.....
So can anyone tell us why it has used up 80p since yesterday when the only thing he has done with it is charge it!!
Is this something to do with apps?
He has a GPS app and weather,but not many others.

Any advice would be great thanks.

No,not really,unless you mean the app is downloading without getting asked to do so,and if it where,why did it cost?Shouldn't it be downloading from our wi fi?

Accessing the local weather & GPS using the installed apps, also uses your Data usage, and connects using your location which can be charged at up to 50p/day to search for your location and download the relevant data. If you don't want to keep paying this then turn off the find my location on the phone.

I have a blackberry and have never encountered these problems.

Are you sure it is connected to wifi?
Have you tried turning 3G off?

Does the phone "check" in every few hours to discover it's location - which costs money?
