Hotmail- Someone Else Using My Password ??
6 Answers
Hi there this is the second time this has happened to me and I am really Peed off. I have quite an unusual password which only myself knows. How can this happen? I have a lot of confidential emails and I am now worried someone has hacked into them why is hotmail not secure? Could this be a person? Or a robot which is less worrying.

For a password to be secure it needs to be an unguessable mixture of lowercase/upper case letters plus mixed in digits.
Do you sign out of your email system after you've finished? Is your computer set up to remember your password, because maybe someone you know is using it.

If you're absolutely certain that somebody has your password you should change it. It needs to be 12-16 characters long and a mixture of upper case, lower case, numbers and symbols. Password cracking software now is much faster than it used to be so the longer you make the password the longer it will take to crack.
Do you use the same password on your Hotmail account as you do to logon to some web sites?
If so it could be someone stole your password when you logged on to the web site and used it to log on to Hotmail.
ALWAYS use different passwords to logon to web sites as you do to log on to your email account.

I have used Hotmail for the last 10 years or so, I have the same email address as when I first signed up and I've never been hacked in all that time. Your email account needs a strong password, a random mix of lower and uppercase letters as well as some numbers is recommended by most internet security experts.
