No it won't work as far as I know. I think the iPhone uses a smaller format sim card to the usual ones anyway.
I've got a 3gs but can't remember if it's a smaller sim or not, googling about seems to suggest the 3gs uses a normal size and the 4 and 4s uses a micro sim.
Sorry Daffy but yes it will, the newer iPhones use smaller SIMs but the 3GS uses the 'standard' one, we took the SIM from my partners old Nokia 6300 and put it in my old 3GS and it works fine. You do need a data package of course to be able to do anything 'smart' on them though, in addition the iPhone needs to be unlocked or on the same network as the SIM you're going to use.
Am using 02 micro sim in cradle that fits into old sized sim slot

I am an Orange PAYG customer.

So will the non smart phone sim work in the iPhone 3GS?
The iPhone will have to be an Orange one or be unlocked, then there will have to be some kind of data plan attached. That's the way I read that link.
If Orange doesnt work try 02. I had to drop Virgin as it wouldnt work
as your payg you can change the server
The best thing to do if you want to keep your sim is to check which network the phone belongs to, if it's Orange, call them and they'll be able to help, if it's not, get the phone unlocked, then call Orange.
Several issues here that all need addressing, that have already been mentioned:
1. If the phone that you're putting the new sim card into, isn't on the the same network as the new sim card that you're using, then the phone will need unlocking.

2. If the sim cards are a different size, then you'll need to buy a converter. I think there are 3 different sizes of sim cards: normal, micro and nano. Do a search on Ebay for "sim converter". They're only a couple of quid ..... ish and they enable you to use a smaller size sim, in a phone that usually takes a larger size, by inserting the sim card into the converter, making it bigger than normal.
If you want to put a larger size sim, in a phone that usually takes smaller size sim cards .... I don't think it's possible.

3. If you're using a smart phone (such as the iPhone, etc), you'll need to make sure that the price plan of the new sim, includes a data useage. If you can't access the internet, a lot of the features on a smart phone, simply won't work properly.
this is free at 02 store
