Speed On Computer

Will acer Aspire 3003LMi computer accept speeds of 1000mg? fibre coming to my area ,but don't know if it will be ok for me

I'd love to know what 1000mg means in terms of speed. I doubt very much that you''ll be getting a 1 Gb connection, but most computers have a network port capable of 1 GB - older ones have 100 Mb. The fastest broadband I can find listed for the UK if "up to" 100MB. just about any computer under 15 years old will have a 100Mb port.

Speeds we are being quoted for fibre broadband to be put in village is 1000mg download & upload speeds.. just wondered if my computer (as its not a new one) will accept these speeds

Is this new fibre-optic broadband you mention, the one bought and installed by a co-operative of local village/rs?

Anyhow... with respect, your question is largely irrelevant, 1Gb to the home is a ridiculously fast connection. most web sites and places you are likely to download from won't be able to keep up with your connection so there will be a bottleneck at the other end, not at your end.

Also... the main internet connection is 10Gb with nearly 1500 homes sharing it, so potentially you would never get the whole 1Gb to your house available as bandwidth to the internet yourself because it's shared (this isn't as bad as it sounds as sharing a connection is the standard way of dealing out internet connections and due to reasons I won't go into because of lack of space here.... it works better than it sounds like it will)

Just pay the £30 a month and be happy with what you'll be getting, it's far better than pretty much anyone else in the UK.... speeds of over about 10Mb become pretty much irrelevant for one computer for most purposes anyhow, once it gets to much higher than that the main benefit is that you can have more than one computer running at once on the internet.

Oh BTW... the network port on your laptop is only a 100Mb port (and your wireless is only 54Mb)... but don't worry, it will work fine with your potential connection, and as I said... saying it's a 1Gb connection to the home is pretty irrelevant anyhow.
