From a man who told me he knew I received a high volume of nuisance calls despite being registered with TPS or whatever it's called. He said he could stop all these calls for a one off payment of £60. I told him this was also a nuisance call and please go scam someone else. Then I hung up. Anyone else get this call?I will say he was very well spoken.

New one on me, thanks for the headsup.
did you get the number?

I think you did the right thing btw.
A friend of mine mentioned that she had had a similar call.
matbe he's the one who has been making all the calls? lol
lol woof. Just wondering how many more scams they can think up before they run out of ideas! Let's hope people don't fall for this one...but won't hold my breath.
According to Action Fraud there is another new scam - a twist on the 'problem with your computer' scam.
These people have the audacity to contact people they've already scammed by removing viruses (virii?) that were never there. They are saying they've been ordered by court to refund the monies and can they have the bank account details so a bank transfer can be made.

Incredibly one person at least has already fallen for it
I had a nuisance call the other day, an Indian acsent. No I am not predudice. He wanted to ask me some marketing questions, I answered NO to most of them, and would you believe it, I am being pestered by the people I said No .

The phone number is 080080620646.
He also told me that the calls you get that hang up as soon as you answer are transfer charge calls and you are charged 10p a time.
I'm on telephone preference & caller ID. So if I don't recognise the number I don't answer. If 1 does get through I then give them my chicken impression:-)
If that is the case then keep them talking or let them talk, they have phoned you so let them talk away or put the phone on the side and go and do something until they hang up.
Get a pea-whistle and blow it hard into the mouthpiece!
I do a cracking chicken impression - I'll try that one next !

I typed the number wrong I think I've caught the dyslexic bug.

The number is 08008 620646
I NEVER answer calls I do not recognise.
That bit about transfer calls that cost you 10p a time is simply not true.

You cannot be charged for answering your own phone unless you agree to accept reverse charges.
try the whophonesme web site Jeza

They might give some info on who the peeps are.
That number does appear to belong to a legitimate company. They are still trying to sell you something though...

Here they are. They want you to buy a call blocker, if memory serves me right they are not cheap.
I don't bother with a landline, and there aren't too many spam calls with a mobile. The only time i get them is from other network providers towards the end of my contract. "three" tried to ring me several times, but i missed the first call and looked up the number, so i knew who it was. Each time they rang, they were quite upset and confused when i kept telling them they had the wrong number (they misread my christian name as a similar one). I guess they had paid to get my number from somewhere. I thought it served them right -if i wanted their advice I'd have rung them myself!
Whenever i get nuisance calls, I tell them that i am only a maid in the house and put the phone down.
