Uk Mobile Phone Not Working In Canada

I'm currently on a trip to Canada, and I've brought my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone on the Three network over with me. At first I was able to make calls to both home and Canadian numbers, and receive texts from both home and Canadian numbers, but now my phone is just refusing to make any calls or send any texts.

I managed to have a friend back in the UK both text me and call me, and I received them without any trouble, however I was unable to send a text in return.

I have tried turning the phone off and on again several times, and I've tried removing the SIM card and putting it back in while switched off but neither have worked.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this? It's good to know I can be contacted but not being able to respond is quite annoying.

'There are usually two restrictions on using your phone abroad - one phone specific and one network specific. If your phone is Quad band that means you can use it anywhere in the world (almost!), if your phone is Tri-band then you can use it within Europe. We list whether each phone is quad-band or tri-band in its individual specifications list.

As the allowances with your contract are usually only applicable within the UK, Three will usually charge roaming rates when you call to or from abroad. Like any other network, if you didn;t set up the international roaming and buy a package before you went you are paying over the odds and may well have run up a huge bill
