Tv Retune
16 Answers
Hi all, sister was over today and has said that her Freeview 15 Movie channel - highlight comes up saying "This is Channel 15 (something like this) and we are moving - please retune.
It is giving her Movie Channel 15 on something like Channel 801 - "she loathes change"
Now I had a look and tried to console her in saying that at least she has not lost the channel but she thinks it is not right and is worried that it will change all her other channels.
Now she is quite upset - she is over 70 and did pay 2 people last year for the "Big Switchover" and doesn't want to pay anybody to "retune" for the third time when it hasn't been her fault!!!
Her TV is Sony - I was fairly good with analogue TVs but hopeless re these Freeview - so I would be reluctant in fiddling with her TV in case I lost the lot.
Guys not a big deal to me but to her it would be, as it is all she has - she doesn't go out, dinners, drink etc so TV is her world (sadly).
But as I suggested earlier she does have the bl dy channel on 801. She wants it back on 15.
Thanks for any reassurance for this woman. LOL

You do occasionally have to retune due to shuffling of frequencies by the broadcasters etc. and to pick up new channels or tose that have changed their number.
If you're not sure how to retune the tv, find the manual - either the printed one that came with the tv or find it on the internet.
You shouldn't have to pay to get it retuned - perhaps a neighbour would help! It may be possible to set the tv to auto returne.

Ths is the site where I go to get an updated lit of channels - although I see that the site name has changed!
You can customise the list based on your transmitter

thanks tuvok - it is neighbours that do her retuning - but she pays them!!!! and doesn't want to do it anymore - I would certainly give it a go but as I say I was really good re the analogue and one time(years ago) a channel did not come in and her and I had a blazing row in that I walked out - that's how bad it is I don't really want to get involved.
If it was just 1 channel that didn't tune in, the I suspect that either the channel had closed, moved or changed its name.
This is because unlike analogue tv where each channel was on a different frequency, freeview channels are grouped into muxs.
Look at the website I quoted and you'll see the list. Just pick one channel from each mux and if you get it, you'll get all the channels on the relevant mux.

I had an issue with this earlier.
I get the following message:
"Film4 is moving. If you can see this on channel 15, please retune your Freeview eqipment, to ensure you continue to receive this channel."
..... but I only ge tthe message on channel 791 and not 15.
I did a retune but it's just the same, ie the message shows on 791, but not on 15.
If the channel is eventually moving to 791, she'll have no say in the matter :(
