copy and paste a link into a thread

i can copy and paste a link into a thread such as this http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Internet-and-Technology/ , but some of them are incredibly long and people insert words like "HERE" instead , how do i do this?

Thanks Ralph, that site is heaps better. The geocities is the one I was given when I needed help :-)
Simply highlight the whole of the underlined link and overtype it with "here".  Works every time.
