Can Anyone Recommend Some Ipad Apps Or Websites For An Internet Newbie In Her 70's
11 Answers
My mum has just got an ipad and is getting on with it fairly well despite never having used a computer or the internet before. i was just wondering if anyone could recommend any apps or websites that might be of interest but simple to use. She isn't technically minded at all but is keen to learn and is starting to get her head round stuff. She mainly uses Facebook at the moment and some sites i bookmarked for her but seems a bit scared of venturing onto the web on her own. She would also like simple games/apps to exercise her brain. i know this should probably be in another category but no one answered my last question in 'internet' :-( Any help appreciated.

Hope you have bookmarked Answerbank and your Mum knows your Username; so she can keep an eye on you.:-) Sign-up Mum for AB and tell her to post and identify herself as you mother. Al.

I can highly recommend ths puzzle game, you have to use your brain and memory a lot, I think there maybe a Youtube video explaining what it actually is. Great fun.

This is a simple yet fun app for keeping the brain active:

Thank you Rocky and Dusty for your suggestions I'll get her to give them a go. I am honoured to have had a reply from up on high even if it was a bit predictable ;-) I had to give Alston best answer coz it made laugh although I'm not sure why you think I need keeping an eye on I am always on my best behaviour on here.

Thanks Ratty for having given to me 'Best Answer'. You can still change it if you wish.
I know you are always on your best behaviour in AB. Well, you are aware as I am ,that the Ed and his Mods have their eyes upon us.:-) Anyway my posting made you smile.☺☺☺
Now back to your Mum. I would like to see her posting in AB, and whilst I know really nothing about iPads, I do have a little knowledge about Laptop and Desktop computers and didn't have one before I was approaching my 70th birthday. ( Keep it a secret from the folk in the 'Technology' section....I am 81 and somehow have qualified for a bronze Nerds badge)

I have just been and set her up with a few free apps from your suggestions plus a couple of card games to keep her going. I have told her about Answerbank, she is very slow typing at the moment but said she'll keep it in mind. Alston, I don't think we're in any danger of getting her to 'nerd' level but I am trying to encourage her and I'm really proud of her giving it a go.
