Any Gardeners Here?

As I rarely have anything to do with gardening, I can't find a gardening section on here. Can anyone please tell me what this weed is that is popping up all over my sister's lawn, thank you.

I'm not sure but it could be horsetail.

Looks like Lady's Tresses orchid. There are loads on the lawns at work at the moment

Definitely not horsetail - was the bane of my life at our last house.

prudie - well done. It is Autumn lady's tresses. We have now managed to loom it up in wildlife book and it is exactly the same. Many thanks to all of you.

Glad you got you answer neti. Funnily enough it was in my mind today because the window cleaners were in and our jobsworth environmental officer went out and told them to move their hoses off the grass because of these - even though thousands of them come up each and every year!!

Sister has a huge lawn which has to be mown, so hopefully Irish and Autumn variety are different.
