Window Shutters

One of my friends was here in my house last year and told me she replaced her curtains with shutters and she loves them.

I have asked the "blind" man/shop to look at them. Are they put tight on your windows if they are I sort of would feel I am in jail.

Any enlightenment out there as to how "pretty" they are. By the way friend lives far away otherwise I would have been down to see them.

She does own a very beautiful home so they must be nice. Conne

is it shutters or blinds? if it's shutters, you can usually only have them closed (tight against window) or open (no where near wondow), so that when they are open everyone can see straight in

thanks bednobs - can't visually imagine all that - some day will try and take a race down to her house to see if I like them cos with getting the kitchen revamped - the whole downstairs will need to be decorated and would like to know something re these shutters.

The shutters I have seen have louvres that you open and close like a Venetian blind. You can have them fully open but you can just open the louvres to let in light but keep privacy.

they just look like venetian blinds which I have at the moment - although I do have drapes/curtains. my friend says that the shutters done away with the curtains. I think I like my curtains - they are a bit dressy. Thanks all for your contributions to this post.
