Mobile Data Allowance Problem

I have some internet data allowance on my phone but when i try and use the internet it dosnt seem to work and says no internet connection. It works if im connected on my home wifi but i want to be able to use my data allowance. Is there a setting or anything that needs changing.

Maybe a silly question but have you got your phone mobile data icon switched on?
