Dou You Reheel And Sole Your Old Shoes Do You Just Buy A New Pair When Needed?
15 Answers
I'm not sure whether the guy at the key and heel shop's stiffing me or not but i've noticed that the reheel and and resole aren't quite as long wearing as they used to be before the old owner passed away and the shop was taken over by a young franchise owner whose customer service isn't too good and obviously i don't stop up in the shop for long like i used to as we have nothing in common to talk about. Are new quick wearing materials used in soles and heels to maximise profits as i'm pretty sure my way of walking hasn't changed and if not is it cheaper to just buy a new pair of shoes rather then reheel, resole and pay for the service? Incidentally where is a good place to buy a good hardy pair of comfertable shoes these days on the high street or online?

Good quality boots and shoes last me for years with regular resoling and heeling but it's tricky to know if the durability is getting worse as it doesn't happen to particular pairs often enough and I'm not quite obsessive enough to keep a record LOL
Grandpaw You could shop around and voice your concerns with the repairer first- and see what they say about the Brands of soles they use

I also think that the quality of the re-heel or re-sole is not as good as they used to be.
My favourite shoes, stilettos worn for nights out only, have been re-heeled so many times it would have been cheaper to buy a new pair. The uppers and soles are fine, just the heels that keep going and it costs almost £10 a time!

The heels definitely don't last as long as they used to - I wear stiletto shoes for work, all day, five days a week and I'm very heavy on my feet. I have to have them re-heeled every fifteen days! I pay £4.50 a time, but I have trouble finding comfy shoes so when I do, I want to keep them forever....
