Is it better to keep my IPad plugged into the charger all the time, or just let it run down and then plug it in? Thanks.

I'm not sure officially what you should do but I'd never leave any device permanently charging.

Good thinking, EB.
It's always best to exercise the battery, but don't follow any pattern. I.e. Don't always run it down. Leaving it plugged in isn't particularly good for the life of the battery
or your electricity bill!

It's just that I've noticed that once it has fully charged, the charger doesn't feel hot and therefore I assumed it wasn't using much, if any electricity.

Am I being daft?
I charge mine up overnight and use it all day. By the end of the day its usually at about 50% so i charge it up again overnight.

leaving something plugged in overnight,? I turn every plug of in my house except the fridge/freezer, hi chrissa .

Hi Anne. No I wouldn't like to charge it up overnight either.
Rechargeable batteries used to suffer from memory effects – whereby if they were not fully discharged during each usage cycle, their capacity would diminish more than would be otherwise expected. But with modern battery technology, this has been eliminated.

Modern battery packs should be good for at least 1,000 charge/discharge cycles, so with maydup using her electronic device free from the mains charger connection each day – the battery pack should be good for around three years.

With regards charging overnight (unattended) this should not cause any problems – but to be on the safe side, make sure that both the mains charger and item being charged are away from soft furnishings and alike, that might add fuel a fire (should the worst occur).
