When I first switch on my TV, the picture is bright and high contrast. The colours are pale but yellow is almost dayglo. If I switch off and on several times it improves. The picture quality is excellent once it's right. Teletext is unaffected. How do I fix it?

I had this with a TV of mine that went red after a while and eventually after time the whole screen went red.

It was a simple transistor fix and cost around 10p or so plus labour charge.

Maybe worth popping it into your local TV repair shop.

Be warned though, some dodgier tv repairers may say that it's the tube going, which is usually a cop-out so you can leave it with them and they can sell it on after a simple fix.
