I have used this printer only a few times. When the "ink" light came on I assumed the cartridge (which came with printer) had run out and purchased more ink. The light still on and wouldn't go out. purchased more ink, but the light didn't go out. Purchased full price Epson inks and the light still doe not go
out. the cartridge IS fitted properly as were all of them
What do i do to make light go out please?

Maybe it's a sensor fault and you need to get it serviced ?
You say that you have only used the printer a few times but is this over a short period of time or have you had the printer for months and just never used it enough?? I believe that Epson printers have an in-built print head and the ink in the print head may have dried out through lack of use.
If you Google for it, you may find a web site which will help you to remove and clean the print head, otherwise, as O.G. says, it could need servicing.
