My son has just upgraded his phone and given me his 'old' one which is a Nokia, mine is a Samsung, if I swap the sim cards over will all my information be transferred to the 'new' phone? I have a lot of messages and photos I want to keep.

I think that you need to get a PAC number from your existing provider and the contact your new provider armed with the PAC number and they do the rest you then keep your existing number and I think that everything is transferred- Your new supplier will be able to tell you - I have just done it

You would have to move anything on phones memory to SIM card !

Thank you both, bit more involved there granny grump than I thought.
You only need your PAC number if you are changing provider and want to keep your old number.

If all you are doing is changing phones, save all your numbers, etc onto your sim card on your current phone. Then all you have to do is take it out and put it in the new phone.
Indeed thistleone !! Where ya been ?
If I understand correctly you are just using a different handset not switching accounts to PAC codes won't to relevant.

Data won't pass automatically, it depends on where you presently store it. Anything on the SIM will appear on the "new" handset. Anything stored on the old handset will not unless you copy it to the SIM first.
I've been lying dormant, mm!

Computer died, got a new one so I'm back. xx
SO PAC codes won't BE relevant.
like I typed !
I thought if both the phones are locked to same company ie Vodafone or Orange, then no problem at all. And yes save all photo to SD card.
