I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, Windows 7, on Internet Explorer 10.
When I press F5 to refresh the screen, nothing happens.
I am sure it used to work.
Can anyone offer assistance, in plain language, please?

Does your keyboard have a separate lock key next to the function keys?

(the one on mine toggles them between the usual function keys and some default system actions)
Question Author
Yes, it does. I have tried pressing it and then F5, but it made no difference.
I suspect it will be a simple fix, if I only knew what!
Has it just started happening or has it never worked?
Question Author
Yes, it has worked previously.

I have same laptop and use Ctrl F5 to refresh. Works for me.
Another 'workaround' is to right click and then click' reload'
Also the circular reload arrow at the top
This might all be a bit of overkill... but does the system recognise the keyboard as being present - you can find this in the Hardware And Sound section of the Control Panel. If it does exist you could try updating the driver for it (right-click on the keyboard amongst the devices and choose the option). If there was a disc which came with the keyboard then you could always try re-installing it.

As an aside there is a program that I use regularly for all drivers http://www.iobit.com/driver-booster.php and this hasn't caused me any problems in the time I have been using it but you might want to back-up your system before using it, just for added peace of mind.

I have ventured in to control panel and it assures me that keyboard is "working properly"!
is it a wireless keyboard? mine starts doing funny things when it nears battery replacement time
Question Author
No, not wireless.
I shall wait until my granddaughter has a wee look at it.
She is pretty good with technology.
Thanks, everyone, for your help!
