Storage On Mobile Phone

My daughter has a samsung galaxy 3 mini, it says she doesn't have enough storage to update or take photos so we put an 8gb micro card in and all her pictures and videos have disappeared somewhere and still won't update etc due to insufficient storage space . In settings it shows the sd card is empty so how do we use the space on there and where are her pictures???? Please help!

To download to SD card you go to:

Settings, Wireless and network - More settings

Then select Nearby Devices

Then under Download To and select SD Card
