I like working with recipes from my iPad, but every few minutes it switches itself off, and I have to switch it on again. Very frustrating. How can I keep it on for ten minutes or so?

I've know nothing about iPads but a quick bit of Googling suggests that you'll find the setting you require via Settings->General->Auto-Lock

Settings > General > Auto-Lock > Never

Don't forget to reset it to a timeout value when you are finished!
