Excuse my complete ignorance in such matters but ...despite my love for my wee kindle..I keep a pc for office and printing off..letters etc....if I replace pc with laptop can I still install and use my existing printer which is only a few months old....could do with de cluttering that corner of bed room..pc tower..screen..keyboard takes up so much space...
I'd expect you to be able to install the same things on the laptop as on your desktop. But being forced to use a laptop at work now, I'd never consider one for home. Well not without plugging in a proper keyboard with no daft mousepad thingy to drive one nuts whilst trying to type, and a decent sized monitor or two.
Be careful - if your printer is old and your desktop is using an operating system other than Windows 8, you may find that there are no drivers available for your printer. I tried to migrate a 10-year old laserjet from XP to Vista and ended up buying a new printer.
murraymints have you tried windows 8 the people who i speak with will not use it and have had to reload windows 7 or even buy a second hand computer with windows 7 on
Yes, that machine will do everything you want. It is £500 at Argos, by the way - much cheaper than any where else.
This letter writing you do - do you print them off or email them? Do you use Office for anything else?
I am only asking because Office is a hugely complex and expensive piece of software and is not necessary for simple letter writing.
