I have an iPhone 5 and when I send text messages they usually appear on my screen with a green background. However, occasionally they appear with a blue background. Can anyone tell me if this makes any difference to the way get are delivered?

Blue means sent by iMessage(free...by wifi) as opposed to the Green SMS text message.

Thanks Jomlett - is it just random as to which way it is sent?
iMessage is only between Apple devices.

Thanks Milvus, but why do texts to the same person/device appear in green sometimes, and blue at others?
If their wifi/3g or your wifi/3g is switched off/unavailable then the text will be sent via your network in green, it'll default to blue (imessage) if internet connection is available.
wi fi costs nothing (blue) through your provider comes out of your payment (green) its not random, the phone will try to send it for free and only go through your provider if it cant.
