Fracking Printers
19 Answers
My printer is either dead or dying. I have a small stock of ink for it so if possible I would like to buy another printer that uses Epson Fox ink.
Is there an easy way to find out what I am looking for? Asking Uncle Google was making my dizzy as there were too many totally useless results.
Help please. I have a Epson Stylus SX425W (won in a competition) and would really like to buy one from Tesco so that I can use my vouchers.

You mentioned having a stock of Ink. I had a number of cartridges for an Epson and when I replaced it with an HP I was able to return the unused cartridges and obtain a credit note for them; which I then spent on supplies for the HP.

I have a desktop which is attached to the printer. It is Windows 7. The ink is in my drawer but I have no idea of where I bought it. I remember there being a sale and I bought some. I only bought the black ones so they are worth less that £30.
If you know about printers what do you think of this one? http:// tinyurl .com/or b3qwp I would like the A3 printer function.

My advice is to look at listings for Epson SW425W ink on ebay – the sellers will list alternate models that use the same ink (for obvious reasons).

My other advice is to purchase compatible inks from ebay sellers – that way, you won’t need to arrange an appointment with your bank manager, each time your printer runs out of ink.

Thanks all - Wolf's brain is bouncing around her skull today and she doesn't know what she wants.
I have checked the error number for my current printer and it says that is most likely a hardware failure.
I need the printer and Tesco is my best bet as I have tokens to spend.
I think that I was hoping that some kind soul would tell me to press a specific button and my current printer would suddenly be repaired.
I will have a look in Ebay and try not to buy something that I don't need - like another handbag.

I know that epson printers (and perhaps others) do have a counter for waste ink - once it reaches a certain point it will no longer print as it thinks the wast ink pads are full.
You can reset the counter and replace the pads - or spend ages washing them out then putting them back in. Then reset the counter.
Been there done that.
Twice - different printers.
All you need its to find out how to reset the counter the find out how to disassemble the printer.

Tuvok - this worked for me and my Epson (and no messy hands and no dismantling)

Printers are relatively cheap to purchase. Personally, I would buy a new one rather than struggle with what could be a major exercise to No avail.
An important factor would be the replacement cost of Ink Cartridges, because you could end-up with a printer that, costs almost as much to reload with ink as the machine itself cost to purchase. I would select a machine and, before buying, check-out what are the costs of re-manufactured ink cartridges; which are a darn lot cheaper than originals and work just as well.( Often containing more ink)

I bought an Epsom SX-215 a few years ago as I had heard Epsom refills were cheaper than other brands. I can now get refills for it in Tesco branded cartridges that for a full set cost a tenner more than the pukka Epsom pack but they contain nearly twice as much ink (13ml as opposed to 7.5ml)
But even if I bought the Epsom cartridges it is still much cheaper to run than the Lexmark and HP printers I had previously. Only complaint I have of the SX-215 is that if one of the inks is empty it won't scan, even though no ink is needed for that operation.

My computer is shut down for the night and I am on my Kindle. So this post might be a bit brief.
>The black ink was replaced in case that was the problem as it was almost empty.
>The error message was E-01.
>The paper seems to be pulled through squint and then jams. It could be that one of the rollers is not rolling.
>I work on a Monday but will tinker with it tomorrow night if I am feeling well enough to do it.
>When I turned it upside down and shook it some cat sweets (dreamies) came out!!
I am off back to sleep now - I hope.
