Bulk Erasing Of Emails

A large number of emails have built up on my iPad and it is tedious and time-consuming to erase them one-by-one. Is there any way I can erase the lot in one swell foop? The handbook is no help.

Edit button at the top of the left hand column, select all of the mails you want to trash, select 'mark all', select trash

I learned this method the other day: Hold down the Ctrl key whilst left clicking on the ones you want deleting, still holding the Ctrl key right click and choose delete.

Log in to your Email on Safari,it is one of the best and possibly only way to get the option to delete all.

Fitzer,sorry I only have an IPad2 which doesn't have that facility,on my Ipad when you click Edit you still have to mark Emails one at a time.

I would assume you haven't upgraded to IOS 7, I too have an ipad 2 and the option is now there, I assumed it had always been, my apologies.
PS. I'd upgrade if I were you, once you're used to the new look the little extras such as the one just discussed are good.

I've upgraded to ios7 and things are better but I still have to highlight each email for trashing. I long for a button which says: "TRASH All Emails".
Related to this, when the only option I could find was to send emails to the BIN the bin got quite full. The book says nothing about how to empty it. Any ideas?

Chakka, when in edit there is an option to 'mark all' which will select all the mails and then you can press 'trash'. There isn't a 'bin' in the mail app on the ipad, the trashed mails will go to the trash folder of their account which will be back on the server. This does of course assume you are using the mail app and not reading the mails via the web.
